Antiques and folk art became a full blown passion after settling on Nantucket to practice law with her husband, John Cartwright. Their travels off island always included visits to antique shops and handcraft shows where Ann honed her eye and fine tuned her tastes. When the legal field could no longer compete with her creative side Ann gave it up to work for Nantucket Looms. The owner of the Looms, Liz Winship, became a friend and mentor. Under Liz, Ann learned not only to create beautiful settings that blended the old with the new, but more importantly, learned invaluable skills that honored the work of artists and the public who appreciated them.
When the opportunity to realize her dream materialized in the lovely village of Osterville, MA, (on Cape Cod), Ann's intent was to create an inviting setting where antiques and folk art could mix comfortably. Ann and John search the country for unique, one of a kind pieces that are sure to become family heirlooms. Special events are held throughout the year, (yes, even in the winter!) to showcase the artistic talents of a wide diversity of people. Ann takes great pride in educating her customers as to the heritage of her antiques and folk artists, and in offering first class customer service.
Open year round in the quintessential New England village of Osterville, Ann and John welcome your visit and would be happy to offer helpful suggestions as to where to stay and what to see and do once you are "on Cape"!! It's not just about shopping at Kindreds, it's about the entire Cape experience.
